A scatterplot is a useful summary of a set of bivariate date (two variables), usually drawn before working out a correlation coefficient or to fit a line of regression. Its a good visul to see the relationship between two variables, and aids in the interpretation of correlation coefficient or regression line. There will eith be a postive,negative or non- association depending on the relationship between the two variables.
